Kathmandu. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya has reached Chitwan to try to resolve the problem seen at Chanauli distribution center in Chitwan.

In recent times, the demand for electricity has increased not only in Chitwan but in many parts of Madhes province due to lack of rain. As a result, in some places, the NEA system is unable to meet the demand.

In view of this, Executive Director Shakya has reached Madhes province with a technical team. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had visited Madhes province a few days ago and said that 500 deep borewells would be installed in madhes, which is facing a crisis of drinking water and irrigation.

A team led by Shakya has reached Madhes province to monitor and understand the technical problems that may be seen in the power supply during the installation of deep boring. NeA has also informed that a team including Executive Director Shakya has reached Madhes province to understand the situation of power transmission and distribution in Madhes province, which has been declared a dry emergency due to prolonged drought.

Executive Director Shakya, who reached Madhes Province, held discussions with the chiefs of distribution centers under Madhes province and took suggestions on how to work for irrigation electrification so that the general public could be relieved in the crisis caused by the drought.

He has also announced to install 500 deep tubewells in different districts of Madhes province and has also sought information about how the electrical infrastructure required for the operation of the deep tubewell can be constructed.

“Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is responsible for resolving the problems of irrigation and drinking water,” he said, adding that the government should make necessary budget arrangements for the same. Being aware that this crisis should not be a problem because of us, I myself came to the field and learned about the reality. ’
