Inland Revenue Office, Jumla collects Rs 490 million revenue

Jumla. The Inland Revenue Office has collected Rs 494.6 million less than the annual target in the last fiscal year 2081/82 BS. The office had set an annual revenue collection target of Rs 637.1 million.

According to Prabhat Ghimire, chief tax officer at the Inland Revenue Office, Jumla, the office has collected 78 percent of the total revenue.

Similarly, revenue of Rs 349.5 million has been collected from income tax. According to the Inland Revenue Office, Jumla, rs 135.2 million has been collected from VAT and Rs 5.96 million from excise duty.

So far, 39,573 taxpayers are in the registration process in the district. Of these, Rs 2,000 is under VAT, Rs 17,470 for income tax, 729 for excise duty and 19,368 for PAN, said Poudel, information officer at the office.

According to the office, priority has been given to big and small entrepreneurs, including construction entrepreneurs, to make taxpayer education more effective. According to Information Officer Poudel, work is underway to ensure market monitoring and tax education at the local level.

According to the Inland Revenue Office, Jumla, more than 800 firms and businessmen, big and small, have not been able to pay their dues despite repeated circulars issued by the office. The office also has jurisdiction in Jumla, Mugu and Kalikot.
