Sankhuwasabha. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka inaugurated the motorable bridge constructed at a cost of Rs 46.5 million in Sankhuwasabha district.
On the occasion, Minister Khadka said that significant investment would be made in another bridge, road upgradation and hydropower projects and tourism possibilities to facilitate local transportation.
The bridge connecting Silichong rural municipality-1 and 2 of sankhuwasabha district was completed in three years in partnership with the federal, provincial and local governments. On the occasion, Minister Khadka shared that a budget of Rs 30 million has already been allocated for the construction of another new bridge at Sankhuwa Rivulet in the current fiscal year. He said that the tender process will proceed soon.
Likewise, Minister Khadka said that the government has accorded high priority to blacktopping the Manebhanjyang-Chandanpur-Heluwa Besi road section.
Regarding energy infrastructure, he said five to seven hydropower projects within Silichong rural municipality are under construction and expressed the belief that these projects would have a positive impact on employment, economic development and local infrastructure. “Sankhuwasabha is not just my birthplace, but the responsibility of its overall development is also on my shoulders,” said Minister Khadka.
He also expressed his views on the possibility of building an alternative border point connecting Silichong with Solukhumbu, which would help in tourism promotion.
Minister Khadka informed that efforts are being made to establish a permanent police post in Budhure and the government is preparing to bring it into systematic operation by reducing the technical delay seen in the development work inside Makalu Barun National Park.
