Sankhuwasabha. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has stressed the need of equipping local human resources to develop Sankhuwasabha as a hydropower hub.
Inaugurating the 20-day training on operation and maintenance of power house at Khandbari municipality-1 today, Minister Khadka said, “Sankhuwasabha is a district with huge potential for hydropower. Arun III, Upper Arun, Lower Arun and Arun IV are in the construction stage. The role of local youth who have acquired technical skills is very important to make such projects successful and long-term. ’
He said that ship development-oriented training was essential to create employment opportunities at the local level at a time when big hydropower projects were coming into operation.
Stating that the next priority in Sankhuwasabha is to create an environment of employment by training the local people at home, he said, “Skill development is not only a strong basis of employment, it also opens the door of economic empowerment and self-reliance.” ”
Participants from 10 municipalities across the district have participated in the training. A total of 120 hours of course has been included in the 20-day training. After the training, certificates will be given, which will give the participants the opportunity to work in hydropower projects.
Minister Khadka said that a technical school would be established in Khandbari in the future as part of the long-term goal of making the local youth skilled through technical education. He said that professional capacity would be enhanced by conducting ship training of various branches such as health, construction, woodworking, pipe installation and electrical mechanics.
Khandbari Municipality Mayor Mahesh Thapaliya said that the training program has brought hope, possibility and self-reliance among the youth.
Sankhuwasabha district was considered as the capital of hydropower, then the program was concluded with the message that human resources here are the biggest foundation.
