Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Nepal-China diplomatic relations have entered its 70th year from today.
The historical relationship that started after the marriage of Princess Bhrikuti to King Srongchan Gampo of Tibet has been further eroded in the modern era. Diplomatic relations with China, established in 1949, were established on august 1, 1955.
A book titled ’70 Years of Harmonious Relations’ has been released on the occasion of this 70th anniversary. Nepal-China Media Forum has released the book covering various aspects of Nepal-China friendship in 70 years.
Nepal-China relations based on the principles of Panchsheel including mutual cooperation, geographical integrity, respect for sovereignty and non-interference have been accorded high priority by both the countries.
A book titled ’70 Years of Cordial Relations’ has been published in Nepali and Chinese languages on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two neighbours. The topics covered in this book can be studied in both languages.
Looking at the history, nepal and China are the first to be through Buddhism. In the 13th century, Araniko went to China and built important stupas and sculptures at the invitation of its emperor. Although diplomatic relations are not formally very long, Nepal and China have had trade relations since time immemorial. In ancient times, salt, wool, grain and other goods were traded between Nepal and Tibet (the area associated with the then China) through the trans-Himalayan trade routes. The relationship has now been established as a close partner and ally. Trade between the two countries is worth billions.
China has invested in various projects in Nepal. Grant has been given. It gives loans to the government. In this book, nepal-China relations and enduring support, Nepal-China multi-dimensional sino, Nepal-China cultural relations, Nepal-China modern economic relations, Xi Jinping era and the depth of Nepal-China relations have been discussed in this book. The book also contains historical photographs.
