Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has lauded the solar power producers’ association for its significant contribution in the remote villages and settlements of the country where the government itself has not been able to provide light.
Minister Khadka said this while delivering the speech as the chief guest at the silver jubilee celebrations of Nepal Solar Power Producers Association Nepal. Minister Khadka said, “The Association has played an important role in the places where the government has not been able to provide light to the house of every citizen through solar power generation. ’
He said the need for electricity is increasing and the demand for supply is also high. However, he said that complaints have not been received as they have not been addressed. He said the time has come for the government to work fast in this sector. He said that continuous cooperation and cooperation of the Association was essential in the 10-year Sustainable Energy Goals (SDGs) set by the government.
Minister Khadka said that the government is making policy facilitation to make private sector investment and partnership more effective for sustainable energy development. Stating that solar energy has become strategically important as an alternative to clean and reliable energy, he said, “As we are moving forward in hydropower, solar energy is also a matter of equal importance.” Given the challenges of climate change, the next energy plan needs to focus on multi-dimensional and renewable resources. ’
On the occasion, Minister Khadka shared that the government has given priority to solar power purchase rate revision, expansion of access to transmission lines and provision of banking to encourage investors in the solar energy sector. “We are producing clean energy and the government is ready to take necessary initiatives at the diplomatic and international level to compensate the carbon emitting countries,” he said. ’
The program was presided over by Association President Krishna Prasad Parajuli. Highlighting the contribution of the private sector in solar power generation and the need for collaboration with the government, he said, “The association has played an important role in policy dialogue, technology transfer and project development in the last 25 years. There is now a need for cooperation, stability and investment-friendly environment. ’
