Arghakhanchi. Irrigation facility has been provided to 3,118 hectares of land in the district. Of the 8,544 hectares of irrigated land in the district, 36.49 per cent has been irrigated.
Bhesraj Bhusal, division chief of The Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office, Arghakhanchi, said that 21,247 hectares of land is being cultivated in the district. Of this, 8,544 hectares are irrigated, of which 3,118 hectares have been irrigated, he said.
In the annual progress review organized by the District-based Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office, Division Chief Bhusal said that 123 irrigation projects have been completed in the last one year.
According to him, out of 133 projects in the district in the last fiscal year 2081/82 BS, 123 projects have been completed, two are in the implementation phase and eight are not as per the standards.
Out of the total budget of Rs 167.5 million in the last fiscal year, physical progress was 97.99 percent and financial progress was 86.53 percent, according to office accountant Shivahari Khanal.
The office honoured Argha Construction, Lumbini Construction Service, Chauvatar Water Resources Users’ Committee, and Dambar Bahadur Khatri, who retired compulsorily after working as the founding employee of the office for 36 years.
Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Jib Narayan Koirala, lauded the irrigation development division for completing all the projects by mid-May by stopping the development of Asare.
Chief District Officer Gopal Prasad Aryal said that the District Administration Office would also work in coordination with the development activities of each office.
The programme was attended by Accountant of Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office, Arghakhanchi, Shivahari Khanal and information officer Ramji Bhattarai.
Shitganga Municipality Mayor Chhabilal Poudel, Bhumikasthan Municipality Mayor Jhabilal Thapa, Chhatradev Rural Municipality Chair Chandra Man Shrestha, Malarani Rural Municipality Chair Dal Bahadur Bhattarai, Panini Rural Municipality Chair Tekraj Neupane, representatives of district-based political parties, representatives of various offices, irrigation and water consumers and media persons were present on the occasion.
According to Division Chief at the Irrigation Office, Bhusal, the Lumbini Construction Service, Sandhikharka-8 has completed the work in two months and 18 days against the deadline of one year to complete the work of 500 field irrigation projects sandhikharka-4 and Chhatradev-6 under the Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office, Arghakhanchi.
According to him, Narayan Poudel, proprietor of Lumbini Construction Service, Sandhikharka-8, has been able to establish himself as a great builder by completing the construction in two months and 18 days.
