Technology, capital and experience can be brought in by collaborating with Spain: Chairman Dhakal

Kathmandu. President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chandra Prasad Dhakal and Executive Chief of Spain Chamber of Commerce Imakulada Reara Rene held a formal meeting at the Federation Secretariat today.

During the meeting, issues related TAG_OPEN_div_28 to economic cooperation, trade, investment, small and medium enterprises and long-term partnership between the two countries were discussed. On the occasion, FNCCI President Dhakal pointed out the need to further strengthen Nepal-Spain relations through the private sector and said that technology, capital and experience could be brought to the Nepali market by collaborating with Spain. Chairman Dhakal said that the private sector is fully prepared for this.

Expressing gratitude for TAG_OPEN_div_26 the initial draft of the proposed MoU with the Spain Chamber of Commerce, Dhakal expressed the belief that it would lay the foundation for a common vision and long-term relations. He also pledged that both sides would sign the MoU soon after a detailed study of the MoU.

‘ Proposed MoU covers practical aspects such as trade promotion, investment, exchange of market information, delegation support, and cooperation among small and medium enterprises, which are positive. ” he said. He also expressed the belief that the MoU would be a strong platform for joint investment, technical collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Dhakal said TAG_OPEN_div_22 that the MoU will make it easier for Spanish businesses to understand Nepal and prepare the basis for Making Spain a gateway for Nepali businessmen to enter Europe. Referring specifically to the role of small and medium enterprises, he said that these enterprises are the backbone of the economy in both Nepal and Spain countries.

Noting that many positive policy changes have taken place in Nepal TAG_OPEN_div_20, he said these changes have created plenty of opportunities for foreign investment in Nepal. He said spanish investment in sectors such as tourism, infrastructure, hydropower, renewable energy, agricultural processing and information technology has huge potential.

Executive Chief of Spain Chamber of Commerce, Imakulada Reara Rene Reara said that the investment potential in Nepal is very attractive and there is a desire to strengthen trade cooperation. TAG_OPEN_div_18 She said there is potential in tourism, technology, agriculture, renewable energy and infrastructure.

Similarly TAG_OPEN_div_16, she opined that the MoU with the Federation would take the private regional coordination and trust between Nepal and Spain to a new height.  During the meeting, the two sides stressed the need for joint initiatives to further deepen mutual economic ties and expressed confidence that the business communities would be benefited from common programmes and collaborations.
