Kathmandu. Today is a public holiday in Bagmati Province due to Gai Jatra on Sunday. Singha Durbar, the country’s main administrative center, remained bright on the day of the holiday.

The main gate was also closed due to repairs. Not only Singha Durbar, but all the government offices in The Kathmandu Valley remained deserted.

While all the offices within Singha Durbar were closed, intensive discussions were going on at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport to manage the sick contracts.

On Thursday and Friday, the Department of Roads along with the heads of offices across the country has been continuously discussing the management of sick contracts after the performance review of the last fiscal year.

Although discussions were held in totality in the review meeting, discussions were held on holidays by forming separate groups at the project, regional office and division office level. Minister Devendra Dahal had reached the ministry at 10:15 pm.

He said that the ministry has given top priority to the management of sick contracts, so the work has been done on holidays as it is the time when the office chiefs from different districts have come.

Minister Dahal said, “Discussions were held regarding the management of sick contracts during the time when the office chiefs from all over the country came to Kathmandu.” ’

In the annual review meeting, Minister Dahal directed to give priority to the management of sick contracts and arrears.

Minister Dahal has been showing special concern since taking charge to end the situation of projects starting but not completing them within the stipulated time and getting stuck for years.

Secretary at the Ministry, Keshav Kumar Sharma, said that the scope of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport is different from other ministries and offices.

“It is not enough for the road employees to do 10-5 works, they should be ready to work in the field at any time,” secretary Sharma said, adding, “Similarly, for the current fiscal year, special attention has been paid to the management of sick contracts before going to the office. ’

Discussions were held for the management of sick contracts in four federal supervision and monitoring offices and various projects.
