Tanahun. Chief Minister of Gandaki State Surendra Raj Pandey has said that the state government would facilitate the timely completion of Tanahu Hydropower Project. Inspecting the 140 MW project under construction at Rishing rural municipality-1 today, he stressed the need of completing the project within the stipulated time.
Chief Minister Pandey said that the state government would facilitate in resolving the problems faced during the construction of the project. He said the Tanahun Hydropower Project would contribute significantly to the country’s energy sector.
Chief Minister Pandey inspected the dam construction site under ‘Package-1’ of Tanahu Hydropower Project and power house under ‘Package-2’. Project Chief Shyamji Bhandari briefed him about the progress made so far.
Under package-1, the contract agreement with Songdada Corporation, Vietnam-Kalika Construction Pvt Ltd Nepal JV for the construction of 140-meter high dam came into effect from September 1, 2018. Its progress so far has been 43.5 percent.
According to Bhandari, the structural work inside the electricity under package-2 has been completed and the equipment is being installed. Under this, 67 percent progress has been made in the underground power house and 74 percent in the construction of the transmission line under package-3, he said. According to him, the overall construction of the project is targeted to be completed by June 2083 BS.
ADB will bear $150 million, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) $184 million, European Investment Bank $85 million and Government of Nepal and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) $86 million.
