Kanchanpur. The Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office, Kanchanpur has constructed a 3,900-metre irrigation well in the last fiscal year.
Division Chief Mahadev Bista said that the office has constructed the well through contract and consumer committee in the district. According to him, 2,875 meters of wells have been constructed in Shuklaphanta Municipality-8 and Bedkot Municipality-7 and 8 through contract. Besides, a 1,027-metre well has been constructed through the consumer committee.
“Irrigation facility has been provided on 75 hectares of cultivable land from the kulo completed in the last fiscal year, source conservation has been done in 287 meters and three ponds have been constructed,” bista said. Eight hectares of land have been protected through the embankment, he added.
According to him, 1,124 meters of contracts and 4,868 meters of embankments have been constructed through the users’ committee. “We have constructed embankments to control the Chaudhar and Pathariya rivers here and the office has made 95 per cent physical progress in the construction of irrigation structures and embankments in the last fiscal year,” he said.
According to him, Rs 121.48 million has been spent on the construction of embankments and dams. Similarly, Rs 26.32 million has been spent on the construction of irrigation infrastructure.
