Myagdi. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has allocated Rs 100 million for the operation of power distribution system strengthening scheme in the district.
Minister of State for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kham Bahadur Garbuja, said the project would be launched in the current fiscal year to reduce the risk of electrical accidents and to make power supply and distribution systematic and quality.
“Abc cables will be installed by removing bare wires in risky areas, increasing the capacity of transformers, adding feeders and installing equipment to prevent tripping,” he said, adding that the scheme would help in removing the problem of irregular power supply due to tripping. ’
Myagdi Distribution Centre Chief Satya Narayan Gami expressed the belief that the project would be helpful in ending the problem of tripping power supply in all places due to problems in the central transmission line to be distributed in Myagdi through Milanchowk, Ratodhunga and Gharap substations.
State Minister Garbuja said that for the first time in the district, adequate budget has been allocated for strengthening the power distribution system. He said that the Ministry has taken initiative to complete the 132 KV Dandakhet-Rahughat substation and transmission line to integrate the electricity generated from the hydropower projects of Rahughat and Myagdi river basin into the central system.
The NEA has implemented a plan with a budget of Rs 220 million from the fiscal year 2080/81 BS to expand the electricity facility of the national transmission line to 2,183 households in 14 places of the district. According to him, preparations have been made to electrify the central transmission line this year in the settlements except Gurja of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-1 through the ‘Ujjala Myagdi Program’.
According to Gami, 874 houses were electrified in the fiscal year 2081/82 and 1,438 houses in the fiscal year 2080/81. According to him, there are 23,869 service providers under myagdi distribution centre. Electricity is also being distributed through Milanchowk substation in Mallaj and Baribeni areas of Jaljala rural municipality of Parbat.
