Mountain. The Federal Ministry of Urban Development and gandaki state government are going to upgrade 86 roads at a cost of more than Rs 960 million in the current fiscal year. The amount will be spent through the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management of Gandaki State for the improvement of rural roads in the district.
The upgradation of the road will also be done in coordination with the same ministry. The state government will provide Rs 635.7 million while the Ministry of Local Development will provide Rs 330 million, said Santosh Aryal, chief of the Infrastructure Development Office here.
Compared to last year, the project and budget have decreased. This year, the budget has been reduced by Rs 194.5 million while 50 projects are less. Six multi-year projects that have been in operation since the past have been ensured resources.
Similarly, Rs 5.14 million has been allocated for the under-construction Chhatiseghat bridge at Saraukhola of Paiyu rural municipality in South Parbat and Rs 30 million for the Milanchowk-Sallyan-Ghakhet road.
This road has not picked up speed for the last four years. Under the Settlement Development Programme, rs 27.5 million has been allocated for five roads with the association’s conditional grant.
