Nikkei-IIT Roorkee collaboration will support renewable energy development

Kathmandu. Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NIKKI) and Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the areas of solar, energy storage, green hydrogen, microgrid, capacity building training and collaboration between industry and academic institutions.

Km Singh TAG_OPEN_div_29, Director General, Nikki and Prof. Vivek Kumar Malik, Dean, IIT Roorkee signed the agreement. As per the agreement, The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Asia’s oldest engineering college, will provide study, teaching and workshops to Nikkei members through its Sustainable Energy Centre.

Similarly, Nikki will assist in organizing hackathons and exhibitions at IIT Roorkee to attract potential students towards innovative technology. Such events will be held according to the time and mutual agreement.

“TAG_OPEN_div_25 In the coming days, Nikki needs stronger and more reliable partners,” said Sunil KC, President of Nikkei, after the signing of the agreement. Nikki is working as a bridge between industry and academia by collaborating with the best institutions within the country and around the world. ”

“The TAG_OPEN_div_23 Nikkei-IIT Roorkee collaboration will also contribute to Nepal’s game-changer energy sector,” he added. This collaboration will also advance renewable energy development. This collaboration will also contribute to Nepal’s economic growth as skilled manpower will be needed with the increase in investment. ”

The Binational Chamber TAG_OPEN_div_21 Nikki works with government and non-governmental organizations in Nepal and India to connect entrepreneurs and key stakeholders from both countries. This will help in the establishment and continuity of strategic partnerships and ventures.

Similarly, IIT Roorkee uses its faculty and laboratory educational and R&D resources to develop and distribute results in accordance with project agreements with industry and other users. TAG_OPEN_div_19

According to the

agreement, the relationship between Nikki and IIT Roorkee will be beneficial for both the institutions.

Start TAG_OPEN_div_16 ed as Roorkee College in 1847, IIT Roorkee is the first engineering college in Asia. Most of the first generation engineers of Nepal have also been educated from this institution. From India’s technological development, industrial growth to infrastructure, water resources, energy and sustainability policy making, IIT Roorkee has played an important role.
