Darchula. Tinkar, a village in Darchula near the Border with China, has been cut off for the past three weeks. Telephone service has been disrupted in Tinkar village following the floods on August 15.

Nepal Telecom’s 2G service was connected to Tinkar village. However, the telephone service was suspended after lightning damaged the telephone tower. Local believer Tinkari said there was a problem due to lack of phone service. There is also a vset phone in the village. But due to continuous rain, it did not work properly, he said.

There are 70 families living in Tinkar of Byas rural municipality-1. The people had migrated to Kuncha (migration) from khalanga, the district headquarters, in May last year. Binod Singh Budhathoki, ward secretary of Byas-1, said, “Nepal Telecom’s tower has not been functioning since August 15. The residents here fall again in November.

Krishna Bahadur Gurung, chief of Nepal Telecom Darchula, said there might have been a problem with the software installed in tinkar’s tower. “We have informed the central office about non-operation of the service. Efforts are being made to solve the problem,” he said.
