Kathmandu. Payment system operator Foneppe has officially welcomed CityPay as the tenth digital wallet integrated into its ecosystem.
This significant achievement further strengthens Fonep’s vision of creating an easy, secure and inclusive digital payment environment in Nepal.
Through the partnership, CitiPay wallet users will now be able to access Fonepe’s nationwide interoperable QR network, allowing them to make payments at more than 1.7 million merchant outlets across the country.

Welcoming CityPay, Fonep further strengthens its role in enhancing financial inclusion and promoting cashless transactions across Nepal.
“Welcoming CityPay to our ecosystem will be an important step in our journey,” said Divas Kumar, CEO, Foneppe.
“Every new integration makes the network stronger, inclusive and more valuable to the people of Nepal,” he said, adding, “Our aim is not only to connect wallets and banks, but also to make every person and business experience the true convenience and trust of digital payments.” ’

To make this important partnership special, CityPay has announced a special festive campaign based on QR transactions through the PhonePe network for its valued customers. From September 2 to November 2, 2025, every transaction made by CityPay wallet users through the platform will automatically enter the lucky lottery.
During the campaign period, two lucky winners will receive two Samsung brand televisions. Winners will be announced monthly. Along with this, CitiPay will provide 20 reward points for every QR transaction above Rs 500, which according to the company’s policy, the beneficiary can convert as cash or goods.
The incorporation of CitiPay demonstrates the growing importance of partnerships in building a robust digital payment ecosystem. As Nepal moves rapidly towards a cashless economy, such partnerships play an important role in fostering innovation, ensuring interoperability, and providing financial services to a wider population.
