Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The Language Commission has stressed the need to have an embossed number plate in Nepali language. Making it clear that nepali language should be the official language of the government, article 7 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal has a provision that the number plate of the vehicle should be in English language.
The Commission has also informed about the constitutional provision of keeping embossed number plates in Nepali language and not in languages and scripts not recognized by the constitution and the Supreme Court’s decision.
Article 7 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal has clearly explained that the government of all levels of government should do so accordingly in accordance with the provision that the Article 7 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal makes it clear that other matters related to the language will be as decided by the Government of Nepal on the recommendation of the Language Commission.
Chairperson of the Language Commission, Dr Gopal Thakur, said that the attention of the Government of Nepal has been drawn again as per the commission’s decision of August 1to keep the number of electronic symbols in Devanagari script, realizing its constitutional responsibility.
