Kathmandu. Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN) has expressed sorrow over the recent incidents of people under the age of 28 (GenG) who lost their lives and were injured during a peaceful demonstration. The organization has urged the government to address the worrisome situation arising out of the incident.
As the protests continued in various places today, IPPAN has demanded that all the protesters be saved from further harm after the uncomfortable situation. IPPAN Chairman Ganesh Karki demanded that the government should give a befitting reply to the legitimate demands raised by the agitators like ending corruption, accountability and ensuring civil liberties.
“We demand that the government investigate the incident, provide compensation to the families of the deceased and provide free medical treatment to the injured,” he said. Wishing for the speedy recovery of the injured, IPPAN has appealed to all energy entrepreneurs for financial and material support for their treatment. IPPAN has concluded that the use of unnecessary force in the course of controlling peaceful demonstrations is against democratic values and the constitution.
