Bow. Physical materials worth Rs 400 million were damaged in the Madhes Province Assembly and Secretariat at Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-12 during the agitation and demonstration by Jenji.
According to Madhes Province Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal, the offices of parliamentary party of all seven political parties, office of party presidents, the office of the Speaker and most of the parts of the party secretariat were completely damaged by the vandalism.
He said the protesters attacked not only office premises but also vehicles and personal property. The vandals also torched a vehicle of the Provincial Assembly Secretariat while the windows of Speaker Mandal’s private vehicle were also smashed.
According to him, furniture, computers, laptops, internet, television and fans were looted and completely damaged by the fire.
Speaker Mandal said that the agitators had also vandalized his residence and looted three tolas of gold ornaments.
Similarly, computers and televisions of the media center inside the State Assembly were looted, according to the Secretariat. Meanwhile, the Madhes Province Assembly has been requested to return the computers, laptops, printers, scanners, televisions, cameras, monitors, microphones, speakers, photocopy machines, ACs and other electrical appliances as well as physical materials taken away from the Madhes Province Assembly in the name of agitation.
A notice written by Madhes Province Secretary Basu Prasad Koirala has requested the government to send back the electronic materials.
