Rasuwa. The Syaphrubesi-Rasuwagadhi road section, which was damaged due to floods in Lhende rivulet on July 9 and July 28, has been repaired. The Department of Roads had provided joint support from Tatopani hill to Rasuwagadhi and the rest of the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project.

Vehicular movement has been resumed from the vicinity of the Bhotekoshi River due to the failure to cut the rock above Timure. The vehicular movement would be smooth for the entire winter season only until the water level in the rivulet rises, he said.

Meanwhile, the foundation of the concrete bridge over Thado rivulet at Kulung of Gosainkunda rural municipality-3 is at risk. It is said the entire foundation of the bridge is at risk due to the rise in the water level in the Kulung rivulet due to incessant rain. Kumar Bikram Parajuli, an engineer at the Galchhi-Mailung-Rasuwagadhi Highway Improvement Project, said that the risk is being removed.

He said that only regular passenger buses and light vehicles have been allowed from the bridge and cargo vehicles have been stopped.

The Chinese side has continued the construction of bailey bridge as part of the reconstruction of the Miteri Bridge between Nepal and China, which was swept away by the Lhende River on July 7. Tulasi Prasad Bhattarai, chief customs officer at the Rasuwa Customs Office, said that the customs office has lost more than Rs seven and a half billion in tax due to the flood-swept away Miteri bridge. Despite the road being opened, the reconstruction of the dam of the flood-hit Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project has been delayed due to the risk of the bridge.

Satyaram Jyakhwa, managing director of Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project, said that the project is facing a loss of Rs 12.7 million as it has not been able to transport construction materials including rods, cement and other construction materials for the repair of the dam. According to the project technicians, although the inner part of the dam area is safe due to the underground structure project, the outer structure of the dam area has been damaged.
