Baglung. Kathekhola rural municipality has constructed a five-bed basic hospital. The hospital was constructed at a cost of Rs 36.46 million allocated by the rural municipality in the fiscal year 2080/81 BS. Kathekhola which is connected to the district headquarters Baglung bazaar had provided basic health services to the villages three years ago.

The basic hospital has been set up to provide quality health services to the citizens from the village. There were no health facilities in the rural municipality except health posts and community health units. If the locals face some serious health problems, they have no alternative to going to Baglung bazaar. The rural municipality has started providing easy health services to the people by establishing health facilities in every ward.

Seven health posts and basic health units have been established in seven wards of the rural municipality. Although Resh, Bhimapokhara, Bihukot, Lekhani, Dhamja, Tanggram and Lekhani VDCs each have one health post each, people have not been able to get health services easily. Chairman of Kathekhola Rural Municipality, Raju Thapa, said that the hospital would be constructed in Reshma targeting the people of far-flung areas.

According to him, the construction of a basic hospital has been started in the villages to ensure the quality of service and treatment of complicated diseases after the establishment of basic health units in the villages. The construction company had started construction work from Shrawan 2081 with a target to complete the project in 16 months. Chairman Thapa informed that the work was completed some six months ago.

“Every citizen should have easy access to health services. Therefore, we have been providing services by establishing health posts and community health units in various wards of the rural municipality. ’

Kathekhola-7 ward chair Prem Lamichhane said the basic hospital was constructed as there was only a health post here. Now, the services of the health post will be merged with the basic hospital and the service will be provided by adding more. In the last five years, Kathekhola has established health units in ward-8, Dobilla health unit in ward-1, Phaparkhet health unit in ward-4 and Bihu health basic health unit in ward-5.
