Mountains. Locals have repaired the Patichaur Deupur-Lapsibot-Bhuktang road by donating voluntary labour. The route was opened in 2058 BS. Since then, the road has to be upgraded due to landslides every year.
Locals donated voluntary labour to repair the road as they did not get any support from any body. Locals of Modi Rural Municipality-1, 2 and 3 donated voluntary labour. The landslide had damaged the road at Korunga Ban of Deupur. Former ward chair of Deupur Bikash Timilsina informed that the landslide water from Korunga and Dobato has washed away around two kilometers of road section.
Vehicular movement was not possible on the landslide-damaged road. Around 400 people from wards 1, 2 and 3 had volunteered. “The villagers have donated voluntary labour worth around four lakh rupees”, he said.
With the repair of the road, it will be easier for the commuters to come to the village during the festivals. The main road linking Modi rural municipality ward no 1, 2 and 3 to the rural municipality’s centre Patichaur and Pushpalal Mid-Hill Highway has been obstructed.
Earlier, the Land and Watershed Management Office had invested Rs 3.3 million to control the landslide. However, the road was washed away by a landslide in June last year.
