Govt needs to commit to timely completion of MCC-funded projects: US envoy

Kathmandu. Dean R. Thompson, Ambassador of the United States of America, said that MCA Nepal’s ongoing projects with MCC support need to be more committed to completing the projects on time.

During a meeting between Finance Minister Rameshwor Prasad Khanal and Ambassador to Nepal R. Thompson at the Ministry of Finance today, such commitment was necessary. During the meeting, Minister Khanal assured that there would be no delay in the works to be carried out on behalf of the government for the successful implementation of the projects.

During the meeting, the meeting discussed the current changed situation in Nepal and the possible support that the United States could provide to Nepal in this situation.

Minister Khanal said that the main task of the incumbent government formed under special circumstances was to hold the elections on the slated time, to boost the morale of the private sector through the reconstruction plan and the subsidy package.

The US Ambassador expressed condolences and sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent incident and said that the US government stands with Nepal in this situation.

Minister Khanal lauded the US government’s continuous support for the socio-economic development of Nepal. He expressed hope that such support would continue in the future as well.
