Japanese envoy meets Minister Ghising and urges him to help in Dudhkoshi, Budhiganda, urban management

Kathmandu. Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Maeda Toru, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar today.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport at Singha Durbar today, Ambassador Toru congratulated Minister Ghising on behalf of his Japanese side and wished him a successful term, according to Minister Ghising’s Secretariat.

During the meeting, matters relating to bilateral grants, loans, multilateral and technical assistance that Japan has been providing to Nepal and the implementation status of ongoing projects were discussed, it was said.

During the meeting, discussions were also held on additional assistance required for construction of Nagdhunga tunnel being constructed with Japanese assistance, reconstruction of BP Highway, additional assistance for 140 MW Tanahun hydroelectricity project, improvement of Koteshwor Chowk and progress in electricity transmission and distribution system, among others.

He also urged the Japanese side to provide assistance in potential areas of strategic importance as 670 MW Dudhkoshi, 1200 MW Budhigandaki Reservoir Project, preparation of infrastructure projects and integrated master plan for 100 years urban management of Kathmandu Valley in the Kathmandu Valley.

Japanese Ambassador Toru said that Japan was ready to provide assistance in big projects of strategic importance to Nepal.
