World Tourism Day celebrated in Mustang

Mustang. Mustang: World Tourism Day is being celebrated in the religious and tourist district of Mustang. The World Tourism Day was marked by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), Jomsom and Lomanthang separately.

Domestic and foreign tourists were welcomed with shawls and flowers at Jomsom, Ghansa and Lomanthang today. Deepak Oli, conservation assistant of ACAP, Jomsom, said that the foreign passengers were welcomed with musical instruments at Jomsom Airport located in Gharpajhong Rural Municipality-3 of the district. He said that the tourism day was celebrated in coordination and collaboration of CPAP Jomsom and Puthang Mothers’ Group and Jomsom Women’s Group.

On the occasion of the Tourism Day, the artists of the Indra Bux battalion welcomed the tourists arriving in Jomsom via air with musical instruments, said Oli. Office-bearers and members of Puthang Mothers’ Group and Jomsom Women’s Group welcomed the passengers with shawls and flowers.

On the occasion, a dialogue was held with tourists and information about cultural, religious and touristic destinations of Mustang. ACAP Jomsom welcomed the tourists entering Mustang via road at ACAP check post at Ghansa of Thasang rural municipality-4, the border of Myagdi and Mustang.

Representatives of ACAP, mothers’ group, people’s representatives and other officials welcomed the tourists, said Oli. On the occasion of the Tourism Day, a welcome program was organized for foreign tourists at Lomanthang Rural Municipality-5 of Upper Mustang, according to Umesh Poudel, chief of ACAP Lomanthang office.

According to him, local tourism entrepreneurs, citizens, security personnel and people’s representatives have collaborated and coordinated in the program. In the welcome program, the tourists were warmly welcomed and informed about the tourist destinations of Upper Mustang, Poudel said.

The tourism entrepreneurs here who were affected by the Jenji demonstration on September 7 and 24 are hopeful of revival with the arrival of tourists. The Pokhara-Jomsom air service has resumed from Friday at a time when tourism business here is sluggish due to adverse weather and Genji performance. Today, Summit Airlines made three flights carrying tourists from third countries, said station chief of Himalaya Airlines, Suman Thakali.

He said the foreign tourists arrived here were welcomed by the local tourism entrepreneurs and stakeholders at the airport with musical instruments. He added that the resumption of air service in Mustang has created a message of hope among the tourism entrepreneurs.
