Kathmandu Metropolitan City issues three-month ultimatum to remove city market traders

Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has decided to evict the city market entrepreneurs.

Ganesh Electronics had taken the contract for City Market, which is owned by Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Electronics had taken the contract as per the agreement on January 22, 2015. It has been stated that the work has not been done as per the agreement and the city market is being demolished and the ward office building is being constructed at that place.

A meeting of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) executive committee held on August 30 decided to refund the deposit amount of Rs 2.71 crore to Ganesh Electronics only after the businessmen in the market pay the outstanding amount of Rs 27.1 million. Currently, there are 27 businessmen in the city market. The metropolis has directed them to move elsewhere within 3 months and vacate the place.
