My family and I are not in active politics, is it wrong to do business by working hard and paying taxes to the state?

The government has just been formed on the foundation of the Gen G movement. You may not be able to do it now, so instead of meeting you on the eve of this Dashain, I have sent this open letter through social media so that everyone can know.

Now you are in the government. You are a student of law, you may be aware that in every country where there is rule of law, the first duty of the government is to ensure security to its citizens and restore peace and order in the country, but even after so many days of the formation of the government, we citizens have not been able to feel this way because till date, neither those who attained martyrdom in that movement nor the injured have got justice, nor innocent families like us. Those who lost not only their property but also human casualties in the name of the movement.

Mr. Home Minister, neither I nor my family are involved in any active politics, nor have we made money through any illegal business. Since the age of 17, I have been doing business by paying taxes to the government honestly in earning income by working tirelessly and hard at the age of 17, but unfortunately, my residence and business in Pokhara have been completely damaged by arson, vandalism and looting and an innocent woman working in my house has also been deliberately locked inside my house and burnt alive.

Businessmen like us were also fed up with the increasing corruption and misgovernance in the country. Therefore, we were in solidarity with the Gen G movement of September 23 and 24, but no one could have imagined that this movement would bring such devastation and human loss. What shouldn’t have happened has happened. Now in this situation, the role of the state becomes important. Who planned to wreak havoc, who was mobilized and when will these criminals come to justice?

The organiser of the movement, Gen G, has said that although we organized the movement, we did not commit acts of vandalism like arson, vandalism. You in the government have also accepted this. We also agree with this. We have enough evidence for this. It is almost certain that the Genji group did not commit this destruction, terror and murder. Despite knowing all this, why is the government trying to protect those who infiltrate and create terror in the country?

We are still horrified to see the murderers who burn national and our private property and lynch the police alive roaming freely in the society. So, isn’t it the responsibility of the present government to bring such people under the ambit of law immediately? For many days, we have been going to the District Police Office with the evidence we have, but we have not been allowed to file a complaint as there is no order from the top. What can be more ridiculous of the rule of law than here? Home Minister, will the people who kill people by burning them alive in the house be left open in the society?

Now it has come to the notice that the Home Minister himself has formed an inquiry commission regarding this agitation and the action process also falls under the jurisdiction of the same commission, and he has stopped taking action against the culprits of the incidents of September 7 and 24. Will the members of the inquiry commission come to the homes of the victims and investigate from above? The formation of the inquiry commission in Nepal means that the intention is to immediately assuage the people’s sentiments and address these demands, but to release them without taking any action, because there is no record of any action taken on the basis of the recommendations of the commissions that were formed in the past.

And why does the Home Minister need a commission of inquiry to take action against the criminals who have evidence in any case? Isn’t the existing law enough to bring them under the ambit of law? It is natural to form a commission to investigate in cases where there is no evidence, which should be found out only after investigation.

The tendency to make excuses for the formation of commissions in Nepal since the past but not to take action against the criminals involved in the incident is increasing impunity in this country and if such criminal tendencies are encouraged, the rule of law will be further weakened. If the current government does the same as the previous government, it will be difficult to predict how many more innocent civilians will lose their lives in the days to come, and how many others will be victims of destruction like us.

In the end, I respectfully request the Home Minister to immediately arrest and take action against the miscreants who are killing innocent brothers and sisters by firing bullets during the agitation, destroying the national heritages and private property of us citizens, burning people alive inside their homes, otherwise in the days to come, we the aggrieved people and our well-wishers will be forced to take action against these criminals who are roaming freely on the streets for our safety. It has to be.

Not only this, if such terrorists are not brought to book in time, then in the days to come, heinous crimes like looting in houses, arson, murder in the name of small movements will take place and there will be incidents of revenge. No one will be safe here. Therefore, such criminals should be punished in time and impunity should be ended and the government should be given the impression that there is a government in the country. Now, no matter who comes again, the proverb that he has cut his ears should not come true. Happy Vijayadashami to all!
