Kathmandu. Today is Vijaya Dashami. On this day, red tika is applied by the elders as the prasad of Navdurga and Jamara as a symbol of prosperity.

According to the Nepal Calendar Determination Development Committee, the best time to receive the tika and prasad is at 11:53 am.

However, it is also said that there is no need to look for an auspicious time to give tika to oneself on Vijayadashami. The auspicious time for immersion of the goddess is at 9:23 am.

This festival is celebrated on the day of Ashwin Shukla Dashami by receiving tika and jamara from the elders as the prasad of Durga Bhawani. Those who do not attend today receive tika from the elders till Kojagrat Purnima.

The Bijaya Dashami festival is celebrated in commemoration of the victory of truth over evil and the victory of divine forces over demonic forces.

According to the religious belief, the Bijaya Dashami festival has been started since the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana, who became the symbol of falsehood, on this day in the Treta Yuga. Therefore, today is also taken as a symbol of victory.

On this day, Gurupurohit, grandparents, fathers, mothers, elders and elders offer tika, jamara and prasad of Nava Durga Bhawani and seek blessings from them for fame, prosperity, increase in working capacity and long life.
