Far-West. Farmers are worried as the paddy crop has not been brought on time due to adverse weather.

Farmers said that the paddy that was planted from the last week of June to the first week of June has already ripened in the fields, but the possibility of rain has not brought them. Bir Bahadur Rana, a farmer of Dhangadhi, said, “The paddy crop that was supposed to be brought two weeks ago has already ripened in the field and we have not been able to harvest it due to lack of weather.” In some villages, the paddy harvested and dried has been soaked and damaged by the rain. ’

The farmers who are preparing to celebrate the Tihar festival after Bada Dashain are worried about when the paddy crop will be harvested in the sky.

Three days ago, monsoon rain had caused a big loss of life and property in the central and eastern parts of the country while the weather was normal in the far-western region. Rainfall in Kailali and other districts last night has added to the worry of farmers.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Attariya-based Mahakali Basin Field Office has forecast rainfall in some parts of the Far-West region as the influence of local wind continues.

Another farmer, Laxman Chaudhary, said, “The crops that were harvested on the day of Fulpati were soaked in the rain at night.” ’

In the last few years, paddy crops that have been harvested and dried in the fields have been damaged due to timely rainfall. Man Bahadur Chaudhary, a farmer, said, “Although there is a problem of pesticide in some areas, the paddy yield is good in most of the lands this year.” We are afraid that if we harvest the ripe paddy, we are afraid that if we do not harvest it, we will spoil the field. ’

Paddy produced in Kailali and Kanchanpur districts of the Terai region is supplied to seven hilly districts. According to the data of the Directorate of Agricultural Development, paddy is cultivated in 181,396 hectares of land in the province. Apart from this, paddy is cultivated in Kailali and Kanchanpur. Paddy is cultivated in 72,500 hectares land in Kailali and 48,490 hectares in Kanchanpur.

It is cultivated in around 60,406 hectares of land in Doti, Dadaledhura, Bajura, Baitadi, Bajhang, Darchula and Dadeldhura districts. The annual production of rice in the rainy season is 586,353 metric tonnes. According to agricultural technicians, the production and productivity of paddy crops have increased in recent years.
