Biratnagar. The Koshi Province government has provided relief materials to the flood and landslide victims of Ilam district.
Relief materials were delivered by helicopter in the morning. Chief Minister Himmat Kumar Karki said that the distribution of relief and support to the families of the deceased has been forwarded in an effective manner.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law of Koshi Province has sent relief materials to the affected people by a Nepal Army helicopter. The Chief Minister said that the relief was sent by helicopter for the time being as it was not possible to send relief by land. Secretary at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, Ram Prasad Acharya, said that rice, lentils, potato oil, salt, turmeric, blankets, pillows, mattresses and tarpaulins have been sent to Ilam.
Secretary Acharya said that the state government has sent relief materials to the people displaced by floods and landslides following incessant rains on October 1 and 18. Supplies have been airlifted to Mangsebung of Ilam and Ilam district headquarters this morning. And the government is preparing to deliver more equipment.
The state government has said that relief materials have been sent giving priority to Ilam as floods and landslides have caused more damage in Ilam.
The floods and landslides caused human and physical damage in Suryodaya Municipality, Ilam Municipality, Sandakpur Rural Municipality, Mangsebung Rural Municipality, Mai Jogmai Rural Municipality, Deumai Municipality and Fakphokthum Rural Municipality of Ilam.
