Preliminary report on damage to tourism sector in Pokhara presented

Gandaki. Pokhara—Pokhara Tourism Council has submitted a preliminary report on the damage caused to tourism sector in Pokhara. A team led by Council Chairman Taranath Pahari and representatives of tourism-related organizations submitted a preliminary report to Gandaki Province Tourism Minister Mitralal Basyal about losses suffered during the Genji agitation.

According to the report, 10 different hotels and business establishments in Pokhara have been badly damaged. According to the report, Rs 1 billion was spent on Hotel Sarobar in Pokhara, Rs 400 million in Bagaicha Resort, Rs 200 million in Hotel Goodwill and Rs 19 million in Pokhara Event Center. The loss is estimated at Rs 50 million, Rs 80 million for shops and businesses at Anshubhara Complex, Rs 30 million for Barpeepal Resort and Rs 10 million for Hotel Adam Pvt Ltd.

Similarly, Rs 25 lakh has been damaged in Hotel Landmark, Rs 12 lakh in Community Service Centre Baidam and Rs 500,000 in Mantra Thakali. Various offices, banks and some hotels associated with the organization have also suffered damages to the goods of domestic and foreign tourists, according to the council.

Stating that the agitation at the beginning of the tourist season and the election announced on March 4 will have an impact on the entire tourism sector in the coming tourism season as well, the Council has urged the entrepreneurs to be sensitive on this issue and save the entrepreneurs.

“In the past, the Gandaki Province government had provided relief to the entrepreneurs by providing lifesaving loan worth Rs 1.5 million without interest when the COVID-19 pandemic took place,” the Council said in the report. ’

The Gandaki State government and concerned bodies have been urged to take necessary initiatives to resolve the problem immediately by taking necessary initiatives to resolve the problem in the long term and provide appropriate compensation to the victims.

During the meeting, the tourism entrepreneurs urged the tourism entrepreneurs to deduct budget from the infrastructure of the Ministry of Tourism and use it in the promotion sector. Council General Secretary Jeevan Sapkota said that they have also urged the government to cut the budget of the Tukre scheme and invest in the tourism sector itself.
