Lalitpur. Lalitpur Metropolitan City has provided Rs 500,000 to the family of martyr Binod Maharjan who was martyred during the demonstration on September 9.

On the occasion, Mayor Maharjan handed over a condolence letter to Lata Maharjan, mother of martyr Maharjan, along with a voucher of Rs 500,000.

Mayor Maharjan informed that the assistance amount was handed over as per the decision of the metropolis executive meeting held on September 26. “The metropolis has provided this small support with condolence as the nation itself has declared martyrs for their contribution to the movement for maintaining good governance and ending corruption,” he said. The metropolis has also helped in the cremation of the dead body,” he said.

KMC spokesperson and ward no 9 chair Raju Maharjan said the support was extended as a token of sympathy to the family of martyr Maharjan.

Bina Maharjan, sister of martyr Maharjan, urged the government to build a statue in Lalitpur Metropolitan City as her brother has contributed to the change of the country.
