Bhaktapur. KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said the Nepal Sambat could be mentioned in the notes to be issued by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
She said this while inviting the chief guest to garland the statue of national luminary Shankhadhar Sakhwa at Madhyapur Thimi on the occasion of Nepal Sambat 1146.
Prime Minister Karki said that the government would hold discussion with the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank through the Finance Minister on the issue of using Nepal Sambat in Nepali notes. In a meeting with a team led by Academy Chairman Gyan Ram Shrestha, he said that a decision would be taken after holding discussions on the possibility of using the remaining Rs 500 notes for the use of the remaining notes in the Nepal Sambat notes, said Academy Chair Shrestha.
Stating that Nepal Sambat is the original era of Nepal, Prime Minister Karki gave special concern about Nepal Sambat and national luminaries. He said he would participate in a programme to garland the statue of Shankhadhar Sakhwa on the occasion of the Nepal Sambat New Year. D
