Bajura. More than Rs 130 million has been used in nine local levels of the district against the law. The 62nd report made public by the Office of the Auditor General states that all the nine municipalities in the district have been involved in irregularities in various headings by taking payment without submitting the documents.

The report states that all the nine local levels in the district embezzled Rs 130.152 million in the fiscal year 2080/81. The report states that the local levels have been making illegal payments under the headings of salary, allowances, vehicle purchase, monitoring, grants, purchase of goods and newspapers by appointing more contractual employees than the quota.

According to the report made public by the Comptroller and Auditor General, the highest number of irregularities were found in Budhiganga Municipality. In the fiscal year 2080/81, the municipality has irregularized 33 million 57 thousand 764. The amount was used for the payment of salaries and allowances by appointing contractual employees against the rules, foreign trips of mayors and purchase of goods, among others.

Budhinanda Municipality has embezzled Rs 1,87,20,336. The municipality has spent the amount on the headings of personal secretaries, contractual employees and purchase of goods from consumer committees.

The report states that Triveni Municipality, Badimalika Municipality, Jagannath Rural Municipality, Swami Kartik Khapar Rural Municipality, Himali Rural Municipality, Khaptad Chhededaha Rural Municipality and Gaumul Rural Municipality have spent money on various topics including illegal payments, salary allowances of contractual employees, medical treatment, media and foreign travel of people’s representatives.

Due to lack of necessary documents at the local level, huge financial irregularities are seen in the form of monitoring, distribution of grants, purchase of vehicles and appointment of contract employees against the rules. In the same year, all the nine local levels have spent Rs 72.4 million in salary allowances by appointing employees without the rules.
