Kathmandu, Nov. 26 (RSS): Kathmandu metropolis-26 has launched a digital address system based on the technology to make its ward technology-friendly.

Inaugurating the technology, KMC’s ward 26 chair and KMC good governance committee coordinator Khyam Raj Tiwari said with the installation of the system the details of all houses in the ward can be known.

Ward Chair Tiwari today installed a notice board (number plate) with digital number ’09 lakh dravya 6111′ along with details at Lainchaur-based ward office. Lainchaur, Galkopakha, Thamel, Kapurdhara, Samakhusi, Ranibari and New Bus Park fall under KMC-26.

Although KMC has been implementing the metric address system for the past two decades, it has transformed that system and introduced the ‘digital address system’ based on NFC technology. Ward no 26 is the first ward to start this system.

In this system, a notice board with QR code and address with chips will be installed while retaining the old address and route name. Tiwari said that the information board will have ‘Universal Google Plus Code’ along with Nepali local code.

According to the ward office, the work can be done quickly and at minimum cost for the essential works such as providing information about waste collection, collecting data and disseminating information from the local level.

KMC-26 Ward Secretary Kedar Rimal expressed his confidence that the installation of the system would help make disaster management and revenue collection effective in the ward.

The system will be installed in 6,850 households of Kathmandu metropolis-26. Ward Secretary Rimal informed that it will cost Rs 45 lakh to install the system. According to the ward office, the system will be gradually installed with the addition of houses.
