Mechi Customs Office collects Rs 4.15 billion revenue in three months

Jhapa. The Mechi Customs Office has collected 95 per cent of the target revenue in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2082/83. Information Officer at the office, Ishwar Kumar Humagain, said that the customs office at Kakarvitta has been able to collect Rs 4.15 billion in revenue against the target of Rs 4.36 billion for the first six months of the current fiscal year.

According to him, the highest revenue collected from imported goods was Rs 1.80 billion in customs duty. According to the Quarterly Progress Report, the Customs Office collected Rs 1.49 billion as Value Added Tax (VAT), Rs 131.71 million as road repair and improvement fee, Rs 110,59,093 as excise duty on imports, Rs 10,62,10,124 as customs duty for exports and Rs 395.36 million as infrastructure tax.

The customs office has collected more revenue than the target in the last September of the current fiscal year, which is considered to be affected by the Genji movement. According to the Customs Office, it has been successful in collecting 101 percent of the monthly target.

The office had set a target of collecting Rs 1.50 billion revenue in the month of September. However, the government collected Rs 1.52 billion in revenue during the period, according to Information Officer Humagain.
