Department of Industry unveils report: Foreign investment commitments worth Rs 35 billion in three months

Kathmandu. Foreign investment commitments worth Rs 35 billion have been received in the first three months of the current fiscal year.

According to the monthly report on foreign direct investment (FDI) made public by the Department of Industry, commitment of Rs 35.13 billion has been made in 311 industries from mid-July to mid-October.

According to the Department, the commitment for foreign direct investment (FDI) has been made in seven big, four medium and 300 small industries in the current fiscal year. According to the Department, investment commitments worth Rs 2.04 billion have been made in 75 small industries in September alone. So far, the Department has approved commitment of foreign direct investment (FDI) worth Rs 86.55 billion in 7,550 industries.

According to the statistics of foreign direct investment (FDI) received from mid-July to mid-September, the highest commitment of Rs 153.73 million has been made in 162 industries related to information technology.

In terms of amount, the commitment of investment worth Rs 1.46 billion has been made among the 103 industries in the tourism sector. Similarly, FDI commitment of Rs 211 million has been made in 15 industries in the manufacturing sector, Rs 40 million in 11 industries related to agriculture and Rs 181 million in 19 industries related to service sector.
