Rasuwa. KATHMANDU: The reconstruction of the Miteri Bridge over Lhendekhola between Nepal and China has reached the final stage.
It is said the installation of necessary parts for the ‘Bailey Bridge’ being constructed with financial and technical assistance of the Chinese government has already been completed.
The Chinese government had provided support for the reconstruction of the bridge after the flooded Lhende River swept away the bridge at the site on July 24.
It is said that Chinese technicians have started raising more pillars in the middle of the river to strengthen the middle part of the bailey bridge as the middle part of the bailey bridge is being completed.
Chief District Officer Rajesh Panthi said his on-site inspection had predicted that the bridge would come into operation by October 1. He said that his Chinese counterparts in the border areas have not given official information about the operation.
Entrepreneurs have said that they are hopeful that the trade will be easier after seeing that the work of strengthening the pillar in the middle of the bailey bridge has progressed.
Chief Customs Officer, Tulasi Prasad Bhattarai, said that their employees are ready to complete the customs process of the imported goods as soon as the bridge is constructed.
