Jhapa. In the first three months of the current fiscal year 2082/83, goods worth Rs 12.28 billion were imported from Kakarvitta, the eastern border point.
Information Officer and Customs Officer at Mechi Customs Office, Ishwar Kumar Humagain, said that it has increased by 13.31 percent compared to the same period of the last fiscal year 2081/82. According to him, goods worth Rs 10.84 billion were imported in the first three months of the last fiscal year.
In the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2082/83, exports through this border point have decreased. During the period, goods worth Rs 4.80 billion were exported to different countries. Nepal had exported goods worth Rs 6.08 billion in the same period last year. According to Humagain, information officer at the office, exports from this border point decreased by 21.08 percent.
The main commodities exported from the eastern border include cardamom, iron sheet, tea, plywood, chhurpi, amriso, venioer sheet and molasses, among others.
According to the statistics of the office, Rs 4.15 billion revenue was collected from import and export in the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2082/83. This is an increase of 15.69 percent or 562 million 97 thousand compared to the same period of the last fiscal year 2081/82.
