Kathmandu. The Morang Industries Association has said that its serious attention has been drawn after the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) cut off the power supply to industries and halted the production of dedicated feeder and trunk line electricity tariffs.

What message will the organization send to national and international investors when the power supply is cut off in industries? Who will take responsibility for the impact of production on employment, revenue, bank interest payments, market chains, etc.? The question has been raised. The union has also demanded the government to resume the power supply that has been cut off in the industries at present, realizing the additional complications that would arise due to the closure of the industries by cutting off the power supply.

The organization has strongly demanded the government of Nepal and all the concerned stakeholders to immediately settle the disputed issue in coordination with the tripartite stakeholders including the Government of Nepal, Nepal Electricity Authority and the private sector.

“The dispute has not been resolved for a long time and the government itself should have taken the initiative to resolve it in a concrete manner instead of the government, which has been provoking the dispute time and again after the change of government, which has created a negative narrative towards the entire private sector,” reads the statement.

The dispute between the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and the affected industrialists over the issue of dedicated and trunk-line electricity tariff has become complicated for a long time.
