Lisbon. More than one hundred passport applications have been collected from Faro, Portugal for the issuance of e-passports.
A team from the Embassy of Nepal in Lisbon has collected applications for e-passport of 120 Nepalis from a two-day mobile camp on passport renewal and document verification (consular service) conducted in Faro, Algarve.
As many as 120 Nepalis were provided service by renewing their passports, 28 police reports and 36 other documents were provided service through the camp, said Ram Babu Nepal, first secretary at the Embassy of Nepal in Lisbon.
According to him, a total of 18,515 euros (Rs 3.02 million) has been collected from the camp. He said that Nepali service seekers were benefited from the camp being organized for the first time as per the plan to address the problems related to passport and other documents seen in the Algarve region.
The camp that ran for two days on Saturday and Sunday covered applications related to e-passport of passport holders, passports that have expired, those whose passports have expired for less than one year, those damaged and those who have gone missing, children who have lost their passports and other services related to document verification.
According to the Embassy, Nepalis living in Lagos, Faro, Albufeira, Portimao, Villamoura, Tavira, among other places have received services in the camp. The camp was attended by First Secretary Nepal, Third Secretary Anil Rana and local employees.
Nepali Ambassador to Portugal, Prakash Mani Poudel, said that the mobile camp was provided to the Nepalis in Algarve region who are facing problems related to passport renewal and verification of documents including police reports.
