Kathmandu. A total of Rs 62.4 million has so far been collected in the ‘Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund’ set up by the government for the reconstruction of physical structures damaged due to arson, vandalism and encroachment during the Gen-G demonstrations held on September 9 and 24.
According to Tanka Prasad Pandey, spokesperson of the Ministry of Finance, the amount has been deposited in the fund till Monday evening. During the Gen-G protests, various public infrastructures, government offices, and local bodies were damaged.
The government on October 12 had formally appealed to the general public, private sector, Non-Resident Nepalis, development partners, donor agencies, entrepreneurs and various organizations to raise funds in the fund for the reconstruction of such infrastructures.
In order to encourage the donors, the financial assistance provided throughout the current fiscal year will be listed as deductible expenditure in the taxable income calculation. The amount collected in the fund is being managed through the special account opened at the ‘Rastriya Banijya Bank’ Singha Durbar branch with a special account of 1960101010270004.
