Kathmandu. Kathmandu, April 13 : The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has forwarded process for installing high-speed internet services in 71 service centers, in a bid to further strengthen the e-governance system.
KMC’s administrative section chief Dhruba Kumar Kafle said the KMC has forwarded the process for installing high speed broadband internet (fiber to the home) internet at health promotion centres, ward offices and other service centres under it.
“Earlier, a lease line of 20 Mbps capacity was taken in the ward. The cost was high. At present, the cost is less and the capacity is more. Based on the load of internet service installed at present, the centers are connected with 1 Gbps basic and premium and 500 Mbps capacity. This 24-hour service will remain till mid-July,” he said.
According to Kafle, the internet service has been purchased for 32 ward offices, 24 health promotion centers, Bagdurbar, Teku Transfer Station, Metropolitan Police Force (east region), Baggikhana, Bus Park, Sorhakhutte and Implementation Unit, Fire Brigadier Office, New Road, Balaju and Ramhiti Bouddha, Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Protection Program, Ranipokhari, Basantapur, Balaju Park and Shankha Park.
KMC has already signed an agreement with Nepal Telecom for the same. KMC’s Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain and Nepal Telecom’s Provincial Directorate, Bagmati Province Director Indal Yadav signed the agreement.
