Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: A study committee has been formed to address the demands put forth by the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) employees for the past 48 days.
A meeting of the Board of Directors held today formed a committee under the convenorship of Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Law and Board of Directors Binod Kumar Bhattarai. The other members of the committee are Board Director CA Ananda Raj Sharma Wagle and Executive Director of the Board Binay Dev Acharya.
The committee has been given three days’ time, said Santosh Narayan Shrestha, chairman of the board. TAG_OPEN_span_12″Today’s meeting has decided to form the committee,” he said, adding, “The committee has been given three days’ time.” The committee will take a decision through the Board of Directors and send it to the Ministry of Finance for implementation. ’
Meanwhile, the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) employees have called off their protest for the 48th day today after Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal assured that the demands of the employees would be addressed within seven days. Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal has assured to amend the regulations within a week as per the demands of the employees.
Immediately after the minister’s assurance, the employees returned to work. Meanwhile, the board has formed a three-member committee to address the demands of the employees.
The Revenue Secretary of the Ministry of Finance on September 18 handed over to the Board the Securities Board Employees Welfare Fund Working Procedure, 2071 and the Securities Board Employees Safety Fund (Operation and Management) Procedures issued in contravention of Section 22 of the Securities Act, 2063, Section 15 of the Legislation Act, 2081, the Government of Nepal (Division of Work) Regulations, 2074 and Rule 167 of the Securities Board Employees Service and Conditions Regulations, 2068. I sent a letter to the immediate cancellation of 2075.”
The employees had been agitating since September 23 demanding that the Ministry of Finance can raise questions about their work at any time, can scrap the bylaws, directives and working procedures made by them, and to return the letter dated September 18. The employees had been agitating for the 48th day demanding a solution within a week if the minister wanted.
