Kathmandu. According to the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) data, the average monthly inflation rate in September was 1.47 percent. It had decreased by 4.82 percent in the previous year. In the review month, food and beverages inflation stood at 2.54 percent and non-food and service inflation stood at 3.80 percent. In the corresponding period of the previous year, inflation of these groups was 7.20 percent and 3.49 percent, respectively.
The average inflation in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2082÷83 was 1.67 percent. In the corresponding period of the previous year, the average inflation rate was 4.26 percent. In the review month, the Consumer Price Index of Ghee and Oil sub-group increased by 7.75 percent, while that of non-alcoholic beverages increased by 3.71 percent and fish and meat by 3.15 percent. The Consumer Price Index of Vegetables sub-group decreased by 15.63 percent, spices by 7.82 percent and pulses by 4.41 percent.
Likewise, the Consumer Price Index of Miscellaneous Goods and Services sub-group increased by 15.51 percent, education by 7.67 percent, clothing and footwear by 6.29 percent, tobacco products by 4.84 percent and furnishing and household appliances by 4.55 percent. The Consumer Price Index for Insurance and Financial Services (BFIs) decreased by 0.23 percent in the review period.
In the review month, the Consumer Price Index of the rural sector increased by 1.29 percent and the corresponding increase of 1.53 percent in the urban areas.
