Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The government has started demolishing the sick contracts that have been in limbo for years for the construction of the road.
According to the Road Division Office, Kathmandu, 25 patient contracts were terminated on Monday. The contracts were signed between the fiscal years 2067/68 to 2079/80.
Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development Kulman Ghising directed subordinate bodies to end the tendency of not taking tenders but not carrying out works and delaying projects. After that, the offices under the Department of Roads had initiated the process to terminate the sick contract.
Why not terminate the contract from the Road Division Office, Kathmandu on October 11? Clarification was sought from 25 contractors concerned. Chief of the Contractor Subodh Devkota said that the contract was scrapped as the clarification submitted by the contractor was not satisfactory.
Devkota said that action would be taken to terminate the contract agreement as per the provisions of the law and blacklist the performance guarantee, deposit amount, deposit amount, deposit deposit and 10 percent interest on the advance amount and to recover the remaining expenses as government dues. He directed the contractors to report to the office within 15 days.
The contractors have been unable to physically attend the work site for a long time, violating the contract, not having the deadline of the contract and not finalizing the contract due to lack of interest in completing the construction work within the stipulated time.
It is stated that the contract agreement was violated by the contractors without showing any interest towards the completion of the construction work despite requesting and informing them in writing and verbally to complete the work on different dates.
