Daramkhola Hydropower Project starts commercial production

Baglung. Daramkhola Hydropower has started commercial production. The hydropower project which started construction in 2077 BS has started commercial production from Sunday.
The hydropower project brought into operation by Daramkhola Hydro Energy Limited was connected to the central transmission line on October 15.TAG_OPEN_div_23 Although it was said that the hydropower would be constructed by 2065 BS, the hydropower project started construction only in 2077 BS has a generating capacity of 9.6 MW.
Initially, Gorkha Hydropower Company was supposed to construct the project, but now Daramkhola Hydro Energy Pvt Ltd has taken the responsibility of constructing the project.TAG_OPEN_div_21 Hydropower engineer Mithilesh Chaudhary said that a dam has been constructed at Kandebas of Galkot municipality-8 and a powerhouse has been constructed four and a half kilometers west to generate electricity. Chaudhary said that although 9.6 MW of electricity can be generated during the rainy season, only 6.6 MW is being generated in winter.
Engineer Chaudhary said, “Daramkhola Hydropower has been connected to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA)’s transmission line and is connected to the Harichaur substation which lies 14 kilometers east of the powerhouse.TAG_OPEN_div_19 । ”
The contract for the construction of the hydropower project was awarded to Ramechhap Sherpa Construction and Crime Hydel Limited.TAG_OPEN_div_17 Nar Bahadur Pun, chairman of Daramkhola Hydro Energy, said that the construction of the hydropower project took time to complete due to various obstacles. According to him, Gorkha Hydropower Company initially got the license to construct the project, but the company did not complete the work.
Chairman Pun said that more than TAG_OPEN_div_15 two billion rupees have been invested to complete the construction. He said that electricity is expected to reach the remote settlements of Baglung after the hydropower starts generating electricity.
