Kathmandu. A foundation stone has been laid for a sports park in Kathmandu today. The foundation stone was laid for the construction of the park at the site where structures on public land were removed at Devinagar (Dhobikhola Corridor section) of Ward No. 10 of the metropolis, which is being used by individuals and organizations.

Laying the foundation stone for the park, KMC Ward No 10 Chair and KMC Social Development Committee Coordinator Ram Kumar KC said the park construction is not only a means of infrastructure but also a means to increase social activities. The area of the land to be constructed is 5 ropanis 10 anna and 2 paisa i.e. 2,880 square meters.

A total of 12 companies had applied for the project. Among them, Hans-Chapur Joint Venture has got the responsibility. The estimated cost of the park was Rs 2,81,40,000 including VAT and PS. The mandate amount is Rs 1,88,91,000 excluding VAT and PS.

The construction team has been given a work order on November 18. The construction period is till Kartik 18, 2083. There will be an open gymnasium inside the park. It will have a badminton court with an area of 128 square meters. The futsal ground will have a capacity of 928.53 square meters.

Inside the park, there will be separate toilets and changing rooms for men, women and people with disabilities. Grass will be planted in 311.89 square meters area.

A total of 163 saplings of different species will be planted in the Park. Similarly, 300 seasonal flowers will be planted. A wall will be erected around the park for security. After the construction of this park, there will be open exercise for the locals of Anamnagar, Ghattekulo, Maitidevi, Old Baneshwor, Thapagaun and other places.

The Metropolitan Police Force had removed the structures at this place from encroachment on July 19, 2080. Former minister Bhadra Kumari Ghale, who is occupying the area, has helped the demolition of the structures by supporting the campaign to vacate the public land of the metropolis. The police force helped him to take his belongings to the place where he was transferred.
