Prithvi Highway closed for 4 hours a day, urged to use another route

Kathmandu. The Prithvi Highway will be closed for four hours a day from today till November 24.

Pokhara—The under-construction bridge over Bijaypur River along the highway is about to be launched with a grider launch.

The Muglin-Pokhara road project will be closed from 6:00 am to 8:00 am and from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

According to Krishna Bahadur Kunwar, chief of the road project, the vehicles entering and exiting Pokhara via the Prithvi Highway have been urged to use alternative route as the road will remain ÷closed for 4 hours every day. He also said that the traffic standing in queue can be cleared every 30 minutes depending on the situation.

On the occasion, Chief of the project Kunwar urged all concerned to manage the traffic as the vehicles going to and from Pokhara via Bijaypur to Talchowk have to be completely closed.

According to the Muglin-Pokhara road project, two-way alternative route has been made for two-wheelers and small vehicles to and from Chauthe via Belchautara.

Likewise, heavy vehicles have been urged to use the two÷way route from Powerhouse Chowk to Biraut via Bagmara.

Works are underway to upgrade the Prithvi Highway, the major road linking Pokhara with the federal capital Kathmandu, under the Muglin-Pokhara Road Project.

The Mugling-Pokhara road section is being divided into two sections. According to Project Chief Kunwar, 59.76 per cent physical progress has been made so far in the eastern section of the road from Jamune to Abukhaireni.

The first phase of blacktopping has been completed on 37.4 km of 38.88 km stretch so far. Out of this area, 29.61 km section has been blacktopped with four lanes while 7.79 km has been blacktopped.

Likewise, 11 out of 12 bridges have been constructed in this section, according to Project Chief Kunwar.
