Kathmandu. Nepali entrepreneurs have been facing problem due to the closure of Kerung border point for the past five months. The Kerung transit point has remained closed since the flooded Lende River on the Nepal-China border on July 24 swept away a bridge over the Miteri River at Rasuwagadhi.
Clothes and other goods brought for the festival are stranded at the Kerung border point for the past five months. The Tatopani border point in Sindhupalchowk is now in operation. The checkpoint, which was stopped due to the closure of the Araniko Highway due to rain, has come into operation after Tihar.
However, the entry of goods vehicles has been restricted at the Corolla checkpoint. Traders complain that only four ÷five transport vehicles are getting a pass to enter China on a daily basis at the checkpoint. The border point has been closed since the onset of cold weather. People are compelled to bring goods from Corolla border point to Kathmandu via Mustang and Pokhara.
Entrepreneurs say that they are compelled to start their vehicles due to the increasing cold at the Corolla checkpoint. Entrepreneurs say that it would be easier to import goods if the Kerung border point is opened soon. Imports of clothes, shoes, cosmetics, electronics, fruits and auto parts from China is a major commodity in Nepal.
